Buying a home? Ask the Seller for the GAPScore.

It’s more green to be wise. And it’s wise not to drive all over town to view the homes without GAPScore to help guide you. The overall scores will help you find a home that has more of what you’re looking for and the chart has individual green elements of concern; air, water, energy, solar, land, sustainability.

Limit Health Issues

It’s more green to be healthy. Health issues and indoor air quality are not a joke. The potential to be cleaner than most and allergen free is an important part of a lot of peoples decisions for quality of life. The balance between moisture, temperature, and air quality can enhance your life instead of running it. Use the GAPScore chart to check if air quality was an issue for the last home owner.

Decrease Monthly Costs

It’s more green to save money. With a greener home, the maintenance schedule takes less time of your day. Yes, every home has it’s issues and repair needs. But with a more sustainable house, the maintenance is less and costs are lowered. That’s money in your pocket that doesn’t need to leave. When building and property design does not perform at efficient levels, it costs you money every month and larger bills for repair or replacement through the years.

Provide the Best for your Family

It’s more green to care about the people around you. When purchasing a home for your family, it’s important to ensure their safety and well being by choosing a home with minimal toxins and more efficiency measures. The best built homes available were built to green standards. When it comes to providing for your loved ones the best place to start is at home.

The overall scores will help you find a home that has more green characteristics and the chart indicates the individual green elements of concern; air, water, energy, solar, land, sustainability.

Certification Vs. Certification

It’s more green to do what’s natural. It’s also very efficient. By being concerned about the environment as a whole and the personal environment that we create, your certification must fit the environment in which it is located and follow certified regional standards as well as your personal preferences for health and or energy. When using the GAPScore as a tool to “bird dog” homes, any certification can be compared to another through the use of the graph chart. The overall scores will help you find a home that has more green characteristics and the chart indicates the individual green elements of concern; air, water, energy, solar, land, sustainability.

About GAPScore Results

We believe that yellow and blue are primary colors of green. Therefore, it’s better to be yellow or blue than nothing at all. Because simply put, it takes yellow and blue to make green. The overall scores will help you find a home that has more green characteristics and the chart indicates the individual green elements of concern; air, water, energy, solar, land, sustainability.

YELLOW

A Yellow GAPScore below 25: The property still has green potential. Several hard-to-change aspects of the property are present and the owners have not implemented simple green upgrades. The property needs green upgrades now.

BLUE

A Blue GAPScore above 25 and 45: Congratulations! The property's green potential is excellent if the home is upgraded with the appropriate systems and equipment.

LIGHT GREEN

(A GAPScore of 46 to 70 points: Above Average) The home has great green potential. Technologies for increased environmental efficiency have been incorporated into the initial home design or implemented during subsequent renovations.

A Light Green GAPScore above 60: The property has a few hard-to-change traits that may potentially not be addressed without rebuilding. Even though you’re "light", you are still considered in "green" standings.

DARK GREEN

(A GAPScore of 71 to 100 points: Exceptional) The property is well designed and has been constructed or renovated with building techniques and materials that are above "green parameters". If every home were like this one, the world would be a greener, cleaner place.

Remember, every home has green potential. But it's up to you to make it happen. Let's work together to create a greener future, when energy efficient, environmentally friendly homes will be the norm — instead of the exception!
